Introducing The Cornish List
I’m Zoë, Editor of The Cornish List. I’m from Cornwall, I love Cornwall, and I spend my life writing about Cornwall for newspapers and magazines like Condé Nast Traveller, and I write novels set in Cornwall too.
Years ago, I began compiling a list of the best hotels, resorts, and places to eat, drink and explore. I shared it with friends planning holidays to the South West. It has evolved into The Cornish List – a love letter to my homeland, and a truly independent guide to some of the most fabulous places to discover in this special part of the world.
I grew up on Cornwall’s South coast, in the bucket and spade resort of Looe – a fabulous, unpretentious and underrated seaside resort. I spent summers working in ice cream shops and cafes, and camping in Polzeath. North Cornwall’s Champagne Coast is one of my favourite places on earth, glittering with glamorous destinations and dripping in surf-chic vibes.
Capturing and sharing the magic of Cornwall is my greatest passion. Tired of seeing the so-called ‘best hotels in Cornwall’ lists, repeating the same recommendations year after year – often written by people who don’t truly know and love Cornwall – I set out to create something more personal, written from the heart by someone who knows the real Cornwall.
From beachfront boltholes, foodie havens, luxury hotels and dinky guesthouses, to eco retreats, adult-only spas, and family-focused resorts, I hope there is something for every taste and occasion on the Cornish List.
